Almadar Aljadid announces the adoption of LTE technology

http://www.almadar.ly/image/logo.gifAlmadar Aljadid announces the adoption of LTE technology as choice to build a  4G mobile network skipping the 3G stage completely.

LTE Technology Overview. "Source Wiki-Pedia"

LTE (Long Term Evolution) is the last step toward the 4th generation of radio technologies designed to increase the capacity and speed of mobile telephone networks.
The LTE specification provides downlink peak rates of at least 100 Mbps, an uplink of at least 50 Mbit/s and RAN round-trip times of less than 10 ms. LTE supports scalable carrier bandwidths, from 20 MHz down to 1.4 MHz and supports both Frequency Division Duplexing and Time Division Duplexing.
Part of the LTE standard is the System Architecture Evolution, a flat IP-based network architecture designed to replace the GPRS Core Network and ensure support for, and mobility between, some legacy or non-3GPP systems, for example GPRS and WiMax respectively.
The main advantages with LTE are high throughput, low latency, plug and play, FDD and TDD in the same platform, improved end-user experience and simple architecture resulting in low operating expenditures. LTE will also support seamless passing to cell towers with older network technology such as GSM, cdmaOne, W-CDMA (UMTS), and CDMA2000.

I think this is an Amazing Step for Almadar, I've been using Almadar Service for 1 year & it offer a good services More than Other Companies I guess there isn't another else except Libyana  & I hate there services it totally suck.

Starting yesterday 9,Sep,09 Mozilla Released the New update of there Brilliant open source Internet Browser I've Installed the Update & trust me it's looks great & it's working very well actually I hated the previous version, I've faced a lot of Bugs especially with the Extentions they were always not working & it says they are "Not Compatible" WTF... But Lately I've read a useful Post on Lifehacker, turn off compatibility checking in new releases of Firefox so that our old extensions will work with the new release even though they haven't specifically been updated for it.

But u know what
I kept my self using Firefox cuz I knew they'll Fix it cuz they're the Best We just hopping that Mozilla that is speeding up Firefox and improving it sometimes out-of-control memory use but I think this New version looks working with less Memory Usage I hope So, this next Picture shows us the Memory usages in Previous Version WTH.

Mozilla has confirmed that users currently running Firefox 3.0.14 will be bumped to version 3.5.3. It appears that all users of 3.0.14 will receive a Major Update Offer to Firefox 3.5.3. In addition, those running 3.0.14 will be able to make the jump to 3.5.3 just by using the “Check for updates” option. According to Mozilla, all users of previous versions of Firefox will be served a major update offer around September 30th, 2009.

“Starting with the upcoming releases of Firefox 3.5.3 and Firefox 3.0.14, Mozilla will warn users if their version of the popular Adobe Flash Player plugin is out of date. Old versions of plugins can cause crashes and other stability problems, and can also be a significant security risk. For now our focus is on the Adobe Flash Player both because of its popularity and because some studies have shown that as many as 80% of users currently have an out of date version,” Mike Beltzner, director of Firefox at Mozilla Corporation, stated.

Firefox 3.5.3 and Firefox 3.0.14 for Windows are available for download here.
Firefox 3.5.3 for Linux is available for download here.
Firefox 3.0.14 for Linux is available for download here

5 Tips For Safe Computing – Without Dying

burning_laptopApparently age is not a guarantee of wisdom. I just finished reading an article I really thought I would never see, A 56-year-old man from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, died as a result of a fire caused by his laptop.

Was it near water? Did he spill gasoline on it? Maybe it was super defective? Um, no. He left it on his sofa, thus blocking off the ventilation and causing it to overheat. Which, in turn, burnt his home and him. Seriously, check it out.

So it seemed to me that if this person could have that happen, then there has to be a few more people out there that might do something similar. Hence this post on computer health and safety. Not safe computing as in saving your data, but safe as in saving your life. The apocalypse is upon us.

1. Provide Proper Ventilation for Your Computer and Peripherals

computer health and safetyWell, that should be obvious after that article above. If you’re not sure what a peripheral is, it’s anything that plugs into your computer.
Does your power cord have a big black block on it? It needs to be cooled by air too, so don’t cram it under those dust bunnies, defintly most people don't care about there PC & How it Looks from the inside. Are your computer fans growing beards? Blow them out with canned air. Canned air – not an air compressor. You’re blowing dust, not torquing rusty lug nuts man! Dust is beyond flammable – it’s actually explosive.
On the topic of laptops, that’s not really a good name for them. You should use them on a hard surface and that does not include your lap.

2. Avoid Computing Near Liquids

computer health and safetyFun fact for you – most liquids are excellent conductors of electricity! And your computer runs on….electricity. I actually had a user tell me it was okay to drink around his laptop, while he used it, because it wasn’t plugged in. Have you ever touched a 9 volt battery to the tip of your tongue? Hold it there awhile and you’ll find out why a laptop that isn’t plugged in is still dangerous.
Spill-resistant keyboard? That’s for emergencies. Meaning if you accidentally spilled something on it, it might stop the liquid from getting into the vital parts. Maybe. Might. Possibly. In an accident. An accident is supposed to be something that doesn’t happen very often.

3. Don’t Try to Fix Your Own Computer

computer health and safetyThe exception here is if you are a computer professional, electronics technician, or something where you can identify the parts in your computer. Sure, you might know enough to not stick a butter knife in the power supply, but can you identify a capacitor? Do you know how to safely discharge a capacitor? Capacitors hold electrical charge, even after the device is unplugged. Think about the 9 v battery on the tongue again.
What if you create a short in a wire accidentally and it ignites something in your computer? Again, not a cool situation. Let me tell you a story of my misspent education. In electronics lab, we used to get a kick out of charging up a small capacitor and leaving it on the workbench until someone grabbed it. Zap! Just a little shock. Maybe 50 milliamps. Still not that bright, right? Sure lol, but practical jokes always escalate, as did the amperage. Did you know that it only takes about 2 amps to kill a human? Well, we didn’t go that far, but we did almost get kicked out of the class. ‘Nuff said.

4. Abuse is Not Tolerated Well

You’ve seen the videos where some person loses their mind and whacks their monitor with a keyboard? Well, that does happen. Sometimes it just gets you fired. Sometimes it results in smoke billowing from the back of your monitor. I saw it happen. Really.

5. Dispose of Your Computer Properly

computer safetyRemember what I said above about heavy metals in computer equipment? Yep, well that’s why you must dispose of old computers properly. Don’t incinerate them, it’s probably not a good idea to make some sort of pet cage or fishbowl out of them.
If you didn’t know, lead and mercury accumulate in your body and lead to all sorts of nasty things – including death. Well, and all those environmental hazards too. Can’t forget those.
If you can just follow these tips that some might consider common sense. you can enjoy safe computing too. And remember, he who geeks safest, geeks longest!

 Hope these Tips Was Helpful

Hotmail Finally Enables POP3 Worldwide [Windows Live]

The Windows Live team announces that POP3 access to Hotmail has been enabled worldwide, finally ending years of your email being trapped behind Microsoft apps.
They've been rolling out these changes for a while now, with the US finally getting access last month, but POP3 access is finally available to everybody. Setting it up is fairly simple in most email applications—just create a new account using the following details from the Windows Live team:
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes
Lifehacker readers are obviously more partial to the geek-friendly Gmail that has not just POP3 but IMAP support, but most of us still have a hotmail account laying around—which you can finally backup using Fetchmail or Thunderbird (just modify the instructions to use your Hotmail account instead).

Future of Personal Computing - a Pen with a Paper all over again...

NEC Design, Ltd. in Tokyo offers a smorgasbord of new ideas, some of which will likely blow your mind. I am pretty certain that some have the potential to change the face of personal computing in the foreseeable future.

Pen-style Personal Computer

You might've got one of these "hard-to-believe" emails and wondered if this is true or is this a myth:

Look closely and guess what they could be... Are they pens with cameras? No, much better than that:

Can anyone say, "Good-bye laptops?"

A possible next step in personal computer technology, this is an experimental product called the P-ISM, described by NEC designers as a "Pen-style Personal Networking Gadget Package." (By the way, "pismo" means a written letter in Russian... are these Japanese scientists secretly studying Russian language?) A prototype of the system, which cost a reported $30,000 to build, was unveiled at ITU Telecom World in 2003.

The concept is outlined as follows on the NEC Design Web site:

"P-ISM is a "pen-computer" package including five functions: a pen-style cellular phone with a handwriting data input, virtual keyboard, a very small projector, camera scanner, and personal ID key with cashless pass function. P-ISMs are connected with one another through short-range wireless technology. The whole set is also connected to the Internet through the cellular phone function. This personal gadget in a minimalist pen style enables the ultimate ubiquitous computing."

Personally I think that the old laptop "screen and keyboard" technology will persist for a while (the way books have a staying power over the computer monitors). But then you have to admit, the pen and paper are the ultimate writing/reading symbols that we naturally accept. It's only a matter of time until someone develops a marketable and useful product... masquerading as "smart" pen and "smart" paper.

Microsoft Windows to run on the iPhone

Wouldn’t it be cool to run the most popular and widely used operating system on your beloved iPhone? According to this blog post on the Citrix Community Blogs, Citrix Receiver will soon enable iPhone owners to run millions of Windows applications on their iPhone’s (not natively though).

As we have announced here on the Citrix Blog ( still no Press Release though … ) we are actively developing a Citrix Receiver for the iPhone that will bring the world of millions of Windows apps and developers to the iPhone. As part of our testing and demonstrations we are looking for examples of compelling applications that will not run natively on the iPhone, however if the app was hosted on XenApp and delivered to the iPhone it would provide a great visual example of the power of Citrix and the iPhone.

Windows Vista on the iPhone.

This remote screen application for the iPhone will give users the ability to run full Windows applications including full Windows functionality right on the iPhone.

Citrix Receiver for the iPhone is expected to ship in the first half of 2009.
Stay tuned, the magic on the iPhone is coming soon.

Microsoft sends cake to Firefox team

The IE team at Redmond HQ of Microsoft has send a fancy little cake to Mozilla’s Montain View HQ as a good gesture to join in the celebration of the release of Firefox 3.

Cake from IE team to Firefox.

Well what can I say about this? Didnt expect this coming from Microsoft. I was very surprised when I got to know that IE team also sent in a cake when Firefox 2.0 was launched.

Cake sent by IE team when firefox 2.0 was launched.

If this wasnt enough, Mozilla revealed today that the Firefox team kept the IE logo piece frozen since then!

Kudos to Microsoft & IE team for showing such a good gesture!

Remembering Bill’s Legacy

Bill Gates has finally retired from Microsoft, the software maker that ignited and remained a torch bearer of the PC era and a wealth machine like nothing else in its time. Bill had already left the executive position at Microsoft immediately after the anti-trust lawsuit and handed over the reigns of the software maker to his long time friend and Harvard fellow Steve Ballmer. But now he is officially retiring from day to day work life at Microsoft, where he currently served as the Chairman of the Board. On this occasion we would try to remember the legacy of this man by taking a look at some of the great products that Microsoft build during his time at the company.

Windows

Windows Operating System, is truly a flagship product of Microsoft. The OS has remained the primary cash cow of the company for decades and helped Microsoft get a strangle hold of the technology world by virtue of its dominance of the desktop. Truth be told, Microsoft was made rich and wealthy and key OS maker by IBM who decided to have MS OS in their PCs. IBM did not just helped establish Microsoft as the software leader by making this PC, but also made Intel the leading chip maker by putting in their silicon in its PCs.

image-thumb44 Remembering Bills Legacy Having achieved an unfair advantage over competitors, Microsoft continued to build on its Operating System, making it more complex and sophisticated and “User Friendly” over time. Gates employed the network affect, whereby the value of a node increases with the corresponding node connected to it, and grew Windows by opening it up to developers around the world who continued to churn out new and exciting desktop applications. Each application that was developed for Windows, continued to increase the value of the operating system, as in order to access and use that specific application one needed to have windows. This was something where Bill Gates contrasted with Steve Jobs, whose strategy was close ended i.e. he never opened up Apple’s platform for outside developers the way Microsoft did. As a result no one was allowed to add value to Apple’s OS. Time has proved Bill Gates to be more business savvy, or at least when it comes to this decision.

After a while IBM finally realized that the real money was not in hardware but in software, so they decided to come up with their own Operating System. But it was too late by than, Microsoft was given enough time to refine and polish Windows and had by than build enough of a desktop network to safely withstand IBM’s assault. IBM lost its technology leadership position to Microsoft, and with it ended an era of Hardware (the one in which we saw the Mainframes and Mini’s). Microsoft continued to rule the PC era for more than two decades and to this date the Windows operating system sits on more than a billion PCs.

MS Office

ms_office_logo After winning the OS battle Microsoft started building products, that people who use PCs might need. Word processing, Spreadsheets and the ability to create presentations was something that every household and office needed. Microsoft catered to that and delivered MS Office and office productivity suite that soon became a monopoly (if only virtual) along with Windows. MS Office is currently used by more than 550 million users around the world and is the main cash cow of Microsoft along with Windows, raking in two-third of entire Microsoft revenues.

Internet Explorer

image-thumb45 Remembering Bills Legacy In the late nineties Microsoft realized that Internet is the next big thing in Technology. So they decided to dominate the browser market as well. Microsoft acquired Mosaic browser technology from Spy Glass, packaged it as IE and bundled it with Windows. This default bundling of IE with Windows ensured that the browser found its way onto every desktop where Windows had inroads. The move instantly made IE the most used web browser and Netscape, which was once a technology power house, was transformed into a historical reference. The default bundling of IE with Windows also led to an anti-trust lawsuit that ultimately forced Bill Gates to abandon the top executive position at Microsoft. Netscape got sold out to AOL, who finally decided to spin it off as an open source product. This decision led to the foundation of Mozilla foundation and what died as Netscape got re-incarnated in the form of Firefox. However, IE still commands the lion share of the browser market with 87% Internet users using it to surf the web.

Search and Advertisement

image-thumb46 Remembering Bills Legacy It is still unclear whether Bill Gates didn’t saw the coming age of Internet or if he tried to downplay it, just because Microsoft was a desktop power house and the rise of Internet would have meant the demise of Desktop and the ultimate demise of Microsoft. Whatever may have been the reason, Microsoft made a big strategic mistake of ignoring the web for as long as they could. This has been a mistake that Bill himself has acknowledged several times. Microsoft initially thought that the browser is the gateway of the web and who so ever guards this controls the web. This is why they pursued the browser battle with such vigor and aggression. Although there thinking to control the web was fine, there analysis was off. It wasn’t the web browser from where a user started his web journey but rather a Search Engine. Microsoft ignored Search and allowed Google to refine and polish its Search Engine just the way IBM ignored the software that would sit in its PCs allowing Microsoft to refine and polish Windows. When IBM finally came up with their operating system, it was too late and ultimately got crushed by Microsoft. Similarly when Microsoft finally decided to take Search seriously, it was already too late and their search share is being eaten up by Google one piece at a time. IBM’s strategic mistake of ignoring the next big thing threw them into oblivion, will it be any different for Microsoft ? or is it just a matter of time ? Bill Gates departure marks an end of the PC era, an era that was dominated by Microsoft and also ushers a new digital age. All good things finally come to an end and that’s that the end of it.
